PRODUCT CHARACTERISTICS          

            Primer system which improves adhesion of secondary coats or for sealing of concrete surfaces.

            Suitable for application to concrete, glass, steel, polyester and fibreglass substrates.

            Approved for use in contact with potable water.

 

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

           

            Two pack polyester resin and hardener.

 

PRODUCT INFORMATION

 

Volume solids:  100%
Mix ratio: 100%
 

Hardener (HA 200) 1%-3% volume by weight

(depending on temperature and other environmental factors).
Typical thickness range:

25 - 100  microns.
Theoretical coverage:

16.6m²/kg @ 50 microns.

(Allow for application losses, surface irregularities, etc).

SURFACE PREPARATION

 

         Pre-treatment

 

            Surfaces shall, if necessary, be degreased in order to ensure that all oil, grease and surface

            contaminants are removed prior to blast cleaning.

         Blast Cleaning

            STEEL SUBSTRATE

            Abrasive blast to SA2½ in accordance with ISO 8501-1.  Minimum 75 microns surface profile.

            NEW CONCRETE

            Allow 28 days for new concrete to dry out prior to commencement of work.

            May require light abrasive blasting to achieve suitable key for maximum adhesion purposes.

            OLD CONCRETE

            Pre-treatment required to remove contaminants from substrate and to provide a uniformly

            roughened surface.  Approximately 0.5-1.0cm should be removed by this operation.

            Depending on condition of substrate and operating environment, pre-treatment may involve

            a number of methods,  i.e.  abrasive blasting, wire brushing, power grinding or acid etching.

            Mechanical pre-treatment to be followed by thorough cleaning preferably by vacuum.

 

APPLICATION DATA

 

Method: Conventional/airless spray, brush or roller
Thinner:

No thinning agents to be added.
Cleaner: S11
Recoating interval:

Minimum:  30mins - 2 hrs (touch dry).
  Maximum: Unlimited.
Pot life:

1 - 4 hrs depending on temperature.
Curing time:

24 hrs @ 15ºC depending on temperature and

other environmental conditions.

APPLICATION

Constituents:

Polyester resin and hardener.
Conventional/airless spray:

Pump (minimum 33:1 ratio)

Tip size 15 - 21 thou.
Brush or roller:

For inaccessible or awkward areas, or when spray application is not required or feasible.
