CASE STUDY
Sulphuric Acid Bund Lining – Corroless Eastern
Client: Industrial Plant
Industry: Industrial
Scope: Sulphuric Acid Bund Lining
Date: 2020
Location: UK
Products: RB 300
OVERVIEW
A concrete bund used for storing sulphuric acid was chosen to be refurbished and extended as part of a wider project.
CHALLENGE
Due to the high concentration of the sulphuric acid being stored in the bund, a highly chemical resistant coating solution was required.
The chosen coating solution had to provide long-term protection for the concrete, whilst ensuring the acid remained fully contained in the event of a spill or leak.
SOLUTION
The concrete surfaces were prepared, primed and scattered with aggregate to remove surface laitance, contaminants and ensure excellent adhesion of the Chemco lining.
Three coats of RB 364 were then applied to achieve a thickness of 1200μm.
RB 364 is a 100% solid, glassflake-reinforced vinylester coating system which offers excellent resistance to the most aggressive chemicals at high temperatures.
OUTCOME
The project was completed successfully with the concrete bund set for a return to service.
