Chemco Complete Multiple Tank Repair Project
Chemco’s well-established reputation in the marine tank refurbishment market continued to grow in 2019, with the successful completion of many significant projects for all types of seagoing vessels.
In one such project, Chemco was tasked with the repair of multiple tanks onboard one of the world’s largest cruise ships. The scope of the project included alkali, effluent, residence and process tanks which were suffering from corrosion and breakdown of the previous paint system(s).
Chemco was able to provide two innovative coating systems ensuring coverage for the varying internal conditions of each tank; ranging from low temperatures and low chemical exposure, to high temperatures and high chemical exposure.
These specialist systems removed the requirement for grit blasting during surface preparation, instead accepting preparing to St 3 using mechanical tools.
System 1:
A unique solvent-free, wet & rust tolerant system suitable for use in alkali and effluent tanks.
System 2:
A highly chemically resistant coating suitable for high temperatures environments such as residence and process tanks.
The distinct set of benefits afforded by each system ensured all tanks were prepared, coated and successfully returned to service within the agreed scope and timescale of the project.
