CASE STUDY
Roof Refurbishment
OVERVIEW
The rooftops on levels 6 & 7 of the Henry Park Primary School in Singapore required refurbished as they were suffering from severe water leakage problems.
CHALLENGE
To provide two waterproof rooftops which would combat the water leakage problems. The moss and asphalt required to be removed from the rooftop surfaces before application could begin. The work also had to be completed within 20 days.
SOLUTION
Water jetting was utilised as the surface preparation method on both rooftops. Acrylic silicon was then used to fill in the gaps between the concrete surface. Chemco’s Fast-guard™ RN 500 Series was specified as the coating system to be applied. One coat of Fast-guard™ RN 500P was applied as a primer coat. Chemco’s specially designed flexible roof coating Fast-guard™ RN 500RC was then applied as the second coat in conjunction with fibreglass. The final coat applied was a topcoat of Fast-guard™ RN 500TC.
OUTCOME
The water proofing stage of this project was completed in 160 man-hours with no major delays. The project was also completed during the school operating hours with no disruption to the pupils or staff and with no H&S issues.
